Japanese Web Quest I am a Japanese boy and my name is Rairīī. This is how you would write my first name in traditional Japanese. I have written this book to tell all about myself and what it’s like to grow up as a Japanese boy living in Japan.

My favourite food is sushi. Sushi rolls are made with Japanese rice and different fillings such as tuna, avacodo, cucumber, crab, salmon, chicken. My favourite sushi roll is crab.

Each day at school we learn about maths, geography, art and history. My favourite subject is science, because I like to do experiments.

My after school activity is Judo. I want to become the best in Judo class and get black belt, which is the highest belt in Judo. There are lots of colored belts that you have to earn before getting black belt.

My favourite holiday of the year is The Boy's Festival which is called “Tango no Sekku”. Families pray for the health and future success of their sons by hanging up streamers and displaying samurai dolls which both symbolize strength, power and success in life. It’s celebrated on the 5 th of May which is also my Dad’s birthday. I like it because it’s about boys. Japanese Boys Doll

My favourite cartoon character is Astro Boy. I love the movie about Astro Boy because he is a hero and he can fly. Astro Boy is really a robot who was built by a scientist when he lost his real son and he made a copy of him.

I would like to help the Loggerhead sea turtle which is an endangered species in Japan. The turtle is a symbol of long life and good luck. It swims in warm seas but is classified as a vulnerable species because of the contamination of the oceans. I also like the Loggerhead turtle because he is a character from the movie “Kung Fu Panda”.

Ancient warriors of Japan were known as Samurai. They were very skilled fighters and swordsmen. Their main weapon was the Katana, a sharp sword with a slight curve to it.
