Presentation transcript:

Iliopsoas Muscle: flexion and medial rotation of the thigh O: Ilium and lumbar vertebrae I: femur

Gluteus Maximus: extends the thigh O: Ilium, sacrum, coccyx I: femur

Adductors: Longus and Magnus Longus: adducts, flexes, laterally rotates Magnus: adducts, anterior flexion; posterior extension O: coxal bone I: femur

#9 = gracilis Adducts thigh; flexes and medially rotates the leg O: pubis I: tibia

MUSCLES THAT MOVE THE LEG

Quadriceps(4): Rectus femoris; vastus lateralis; vastus medialis; vastus intermedius

Vastus intermedius: under rectus femoris: extends the leg

Hamstrings (3): biceps femoris, semitendinosus, semimembranosus: extension of thigh, flexion of leg

Tibialis Anterior Dorsiflexion; foot inversion O: tibia I: tarsal bones and first metatarsal

Soleus Plantar flexion O: tibia and fibula I: calcaneus
