1 Student Objective Explain how speed of an object relates to the energy of that object. To identify the 2 different forms of energy Warm Up WHY did the higher ramp make the car go farther?

Lab Conclusions: Is there a pattern of ramp height and distance traveled? Does double, triple or quadruple the ramp height mean double, triple & quadruple the distance? More or less than that?? Is there a pattern in the amount of increase as the ramp got higher?? Question: Based on your lab data, how far do you predict your groups’ car will travel using 8 books? Hypothesis: Add to bottom of lab worksheet

Procedure: 1.Add a row to your data table for 8 books (above or below existing table) 2.Start car at top of ramp & let go (do NOT push). Record distance traveled from end of ramp. 3.Repeat 2 more times & record distances. 4.Calculate average distance for the 3 trials. BrainPop – “Forms of Energy” ergy/formsofenergy/

4 Vocabulary: *Add picture to 3 rd box Potential Energy – The stored energy of an object when it is not moving. Kinetic Energy – energy of an object in motion On your lab diagram, label where potential & kinetic energy would be. Use your new vocabulary to explain why the cars went farther when started at a greater height?
