Debate # 8. Legal or regulatory barriers

Light-touch regulation has served the European game industry well : Two-digit growth EU based industry enjoys a global reach Online games subscriptions

The online paradigm Expands the global reach, thus making national regulations less relevant Empowers users, thus making self regulation more effective as government regulation proves impractical, not on technical, but political grounds (except in China)

The IS industry has set an example in this respect PEGI has met the information needs of European consumers With the support of the Commission, PEGI Online is taking up the challenge of making this information fit for the online gaming environment.
