Hospice is a type of care and a philosophy of care that focuses on the palliation of a terminally ill patient's symptoms. These symptoms can be physical, emotional, spiritual or social in nature. The concept of hospice has been evolving since the 11th century. Then, and for centuries thereafter, hospices were places of hospitality for the sick, wounded, or dying, as well as those for travelers and pilgrims. The modern concept of hospice includes palliative care for the incurably ill given in such institutions as hospitals or nursing homes, but also care provided to those who would rather die in their own homes. It began to emerge in the 17th century, but many of the foundational principles by which modern hospice services operate were pioneered in the 1950s by Dame Cicely Saunders. Although the movement has met with some resistance, hospice has rapidly expanded through the United Kingdom, the United States and elsewhere.

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (GOCC, Polish Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy, WOŚP) is one of the biggest, non- governmental, non-profit, charity organizations in Poland. The GOCC Foundation has American Heart Association Certification for providing courses in CPR and ECC, and use of high technology for medical lifesaving.

Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy is a Polish organization which helps children. It buys ambulances and medical equipment for children's hospitals. On the first Sunday of January WOŚP and volunteers organise a lot of concerts, parties and aucions everywhere in Poland. Thousands of people come to watch them. In the streets volunteers collect money in special boxes. Every person who puts money in the box gets a red heart sticker. By the afternoon everyone is wearing a red heart on their clothes. It's amazing!

 Collecting caps Our high school for the second year is actively involved in charity collection of plastic beverage caps or household chemicals. Each cap collected changes into help for children and the disabled people in need. The money obtained in this way is transferred to the account of the Association for Children in Zory

 Honorary blood donation campaign In an action took part the students of our school, teachers and residents of our city. We collected six liters blood.

 „ Top penny” Main goal is to collect funds to help bring up children outside their own family. The action is carried out through a collection of coins of different denominations, including the smallest - 1 gr.

 Gift for Christmas The action is to prepare a gift in a shoe box, which will go before Christmas to the poorest children in the Ukraine. Gift could be diapers, school, toys, clothes and sweets. The main objective of this action is to help those who really need it, learn empathy and sensitivity, show that even with so little, there can be something to offer.
