Located in Southeastern Asia, an island between Malaysia and Indonesia. Tropical climate with two distinct monsoon seasons. Highly developed and successful free market economy with a parliamentary republic government. Religions include Buddhism, Muslim, Taoist, Hindu, and Catholic.

Main territory consists of a diamond shaped island that is slightly more than 3.5 times the size of Washington DC with surrounding smaller islands. Geography provides excellent impact for domestic and foreign policy because it is surrounded by Malaysia and Indonesia. Excellent relations and communication skills between the natives of the various geographical regions.

Contemporary history begins during August 9, 1965 when Singapore became an independent nation. Admitted into the UN on September 21, 1965 and became a member of the British Commonwealth on October 16, In 1965, Singapore adopted a republican form of government. In 1966, the Chinese People’s Action Party(PAP) won the elections under the leadership of Lee Kuan Yew Under his direction, government policies consistently enhanced economic development while emphasizing social control, social planning, and governmental authoritarianism.

Dominated by a majority Chinese population who make up 76.8% of the entire population. Malaysians follow with 13.9% With a heavy Chinese population, Singapore can create stable relations with China. With the small Malaysian population, Singapore is able to communicate more effectively with the Malaysian people and government. Islam is only 14.9% and could have implications on how and who Singapore can trade with in the Middle East.

One of Asia’s most successful economies. Has achieved a standard of living second only to that of Japan among Asian countries. Singapore’s strategic location at the entrance to the Strait of Malacca has helped it become one of the most important shipping centers in Asia Leader in new biotechnologies, petroleum refining, and the manufacture of computer components. Future growth depends on overcoming resource limitations in a small domestic market and encouraging local firms to invest abroad.

Located in Southeastern Asia and consists of two geographical regions divided by the South China Sea. Climate is mainly tropical and the terrain consists of costal plains that rise to interior, jungle covered hills and mountains. Filled with natural resources in areas such as agriculture, forestry as well as minerals.

Malaysia is a middle-income country that transformed itself from 1971 through the late 1990’s from a producer of raw materials into an emerging multi- sector economy. Her liberal trade and investment promotion policies and measures have attracted and anchored global players. Some of the world’s best-known brands such as Intel, Panasonic, Motorola, Carrier, BASF, Dell, Hewlett Packard and Nestle are made in Malaysia.
