Poland is a country in the Central Europe. The total area of Poland is about square kilometres. There live about 38 million people. Our country borders Germany in the west; Czech Republic and Slovakia in the south; Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania in the east; and the Baltic Sea and Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast) in the north.

G EOGRAPHY OF P OLAND Poland is a lowland; there are many lakes. The mountains in Poland are the Tatra Mountains, Pieniny Mountains, Bieszczady Mountains, Sudetes and Swietokrzyskie Mountains. Poland is situated by the Baltic Sea. The highest mountain is Rysy in the Tatra Mountains (2499 meters above sea level) and the lowest point in Poland is Raczki Elblaskie (1.8 meters below sea level).
