If a Marine is expected to be hospitalized 90 days or less, and is outside the vicinity of his permanent duty station, the parent command will report the Marine TAD to the nearest Inspector Instructor Staff or Wounded Warrior Battalion Headquarters for administrative tracking. If a Marine is expected to be hospitalized 90 days or more, and is outside the vicinity of his parent command, then the Marine will be transferred by Service Record Book to the nearest Inspector Instructor Staff or Wounded Warrior Battalion Headquarters. In all cases, the parent command will initiate SRB transfer or TAD assignment. Any commander has the option to retain WII Marines on their roles provided they can adequately support their Marine if hospitalization is expected to be over 90 days. 90 days is also meant as a guideline only.
