Chloroplasts and Centrioles By Rotimi, Stephen, Chris, and Nick

Chloroplasts Are only found in plant cells. Replace mitochondria Produce energy from sunlight Thylakoids trap the sunlight A group of thylakoids is called a granum.

Function This cells purpose is to make food It takes water and CO2 and uses sunlight to make it into sugars

Interesting Facts Give pants their green color. Is necessary in photosynthesis. The one unique organelle that only plants have.

And on to Centrioles!

What do They Look Like? Made of nine microtubules arranged in a circular shape  gives them a cylinder appearance

Where are They Located? Found in animal cells and most protist cells Float around in the cytoplasm Located near the nucleus Found in pairs

Function Helps in cell division nucleation points for spindle formation during mitosis and meiosis The basal body for cilia and flagella
