 The heart muscles become enlarged.  The walls of the heart thicken, which prevents the heart from functioning properly.

 Breathlessness with exertion or even at rest.  Swelling of the legs, ankles, and feet.  Bloating of the abdomen due to fluid build up.  Fatigue, dizziness, lightheaded, and fainting.  Irregular heart beats that feel rapid.  S&S varies depending on how the disease progresses.  Could also result in congestive heart failure.

 The heart muscles can enlarge when being strained either by heart valves that don’t function properly or by high blood pressure.  This will make the heart walls thicken and beat stronger but it can obstruct blood flow.

 Doctors will use Echocardiograms, Cardiac Catheterization and genetic tests. wiki/File:Hk_lv_big_bio nerd.gif Echocardiogram

 Different medications prescribe  Special pacemaker-coordinates the contractions between the left and right ventricles  Drug therapy  Implantable cardioverter- defibrillator (ICD)  surgery

 Avoid abuse of alcohol  Avoid abuse of cocaine  Get enough vitamins and minerals  Control blood pressure with diet and exercise

 Betablockers to relax heart: -lopressor or calcium -channel blockers ( verapamil)

 Septal myectomy  Septal ablation  Pacemaker  Implantable cardioverter  Difribillator
