The 6 Step of the Writing Process Brainstorm/Prewrite Draft Revise Edit Final Revision Publish

REVISE does not mean EDIT What’s the difference? Revising is when you add or subtract details that enhance the ideas you’re writing about Edit is when you correct all of the grammar and punctuation errors

How do you REVISE? First, you have to clarify the central point of your writing Then, you have to read each paragraph and ask yourself: “Do my sentences enhance my central topic or do they distract my reader?” Delete any sentences that distract Add sentences that help enhance understanding

How do you REVISE? Next, you reread your paragraphs and make sure you have the following details: A consistent first person or third person voice Detailed descriptions of people, places, or events Transitions at the beginning of new paragraphs Lastly, you send your essay to Turnitin.com, so another student can Peer Edit (that’s when your grammar and punctuation get corrected)
