The Harlem Renaissance By: Joe Howard

The Harlem Renaissance After the Civil War, African-Americans found a safe place to explore their new identities as freed people. They found it in Harlem. Jazz music, African-American fine art, and black literature were all absorbed into the mainstream culture.

The Harlem Renaissance The movement of the large amount of African Americans from the south to the north was called “The Great Migration.”

The Beginning of the Harlem Renaissance The Harlem Renaissance started in 1910.

The Beginning of the Harlem Renaissance In 1917 Hubert Harrison, "The Father of Harlem Radicalism," founded the Liberty League and The Voice. It was the first organization and the first newspaper of the "New Negro Movement".

The Harlem Renaissance 1935 marks the end of the Harlem Renaissance. It was mostly the result of Depression economics, but also in part due to the premature death of the patron A'Lelia Walker in 1934.
