Presentation transcript:

Keep bottles of drinking water in the fridge. Stay hydrated in and out! Keep a spray bottle handy with water and mist yourself every once in a while. Not only does this help your skin hydrate, it also helps in cooling you down. Sitting for a while? Soak your feet in cold water.

Stay indoors between 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Staying at home? Close windows once the outside air is warmer than indoors. At night, once the mercury drops, purge the accumulated hot air by opening windows and doors. If you have to venture outdoors, put some sunscreen on! Too much exposure from the sun does not only burn the skin but it also predisposes the skin to developing skin cancer. Make sure that you wear light colored and loose fitting clothing as well.

If you're already sweating, why would you want to sweat more? The answer: eating spicy food increases blood circulation and makes you sweat, so you'll feel cooler as the sweat dries. Capsaicin is found in hot peppers and it encourages your body to sweat more without raising your body temperature.

By performing the Sheetali Pranayama (a yoga breathing practice), you can decrease body temperature, if even by a little. To perform the Sheetali Pranayama, simply curl your tongue and breathe in through the mouth. Exhale slowly through the nose, and let the cool feeling wash over you.

Replace your candy habit with frozen grapes. They’re sweet like a Skittle but much healthier. Apply the same theory to your bananas and other fruits, and you have a wide array of chilled summer treats.

Freeze a couple of water bottles and place them in front of a floor or desk fan, and you'll enjoy a much cooler breeze with your makeshift air-conditioner. Try to add salt to the water first to beat the heat longer or entirely skip the bottles altogether in favor of a bowl of ice water.

Mood can definitely alter your body temperature especially if you’re mad. So as much as possible, maintain a happy and relaxed composure. Manage your anger, and if you can, avoid getting mad. This will help you in feeling a little less hot during these scorching days.

Practice these simple steps and let’s all stay cool this Summer!
