Vocabulary in Context Humble is an adjective that means modest, low in rank, or courteously respectful. → The family lived in a humble cottage by the woods.

Vocabulary in Context Husk is a noun that means the dry covering of certain fruits and seeds, especially corn. → Tamales are wrapped in husks, the stiff coverings from ears of corn.

Vocabulary in Context Stagger is a verb that means to walk or move unsteadily. The past tense is staggered. → The toddler staggered as he took his first steps, so his mother used her hands to steady him.

Vocabulary in Context Write a short paragraph using the 3 vocabulary words we just learned. You may write about any topic that you wish. When you finish, exchange paragraphs with your partner. Your partner should read, underline the vocabulary words and check that the words are used correctly.
