1 Task 1 Identify which texts are graded: A/A* B C With a partner, discuss why this might be – what does the text have?

2 La Famille Objectives: Revision of family and descriptive vocabulary How to use a more interesting piece of descriptive work using a variety of language (Remember – worth 10 marks in speaking assessment!)

3 Task 2 – Find the vocabulary Curly/wavy Primary school Window shopping Bald Daddy’s girl We like the same... The girls love him We have more things in common I get on better with....than before

4 Task 3 Highlight the following in the texts: 3 connectives 3 present tense verbs 2 different future tense formations 1comparative 1 imperfect 1 conditional

5 MINI-PLENARY Write ONE phrase on the whiteboards using as much of the information from the first two tasks as you can! Check your partner’s – Can you spot any mistakes??

6 Comprehension Give 3 details about the mother’s hair What does the mother teach? What is the person going to do this weekend with the mother? What does the father like to wear and why? What does the father like to do? Why does the person like her father? How does the person describe their brother? What do they think his future will be like and why? Why did they not get on before? Why do they get on better now? BONUS – What gender is the person? How do you know?

7 Writing and Speaking Pick one of the texts and try to write a short paragraph on a member of your family using the same standard of grammar and vocabulary – it should last approximately 30 seconds when said out loud. If you have chosen the B/C paragraphs – could you add in some elements from the B/A paragraphs? If you have chosen the A/A* paragraph – can you think of any other elements that we have looked at to improve on what has been given to you? E.g. other conditionals, more perfect/imperfect examples? Try practising your paragraph in your head/out loud. If the person next to you has finished, swap work and see if you can spot any errors or say your piece aloud to them

8 SAP – Self-Assessment Plenary At the bottom of your piece please write: Your Target Grade Which text grade you originally based your paragraph on (with elements of...) What grade you think your paragraph is at now
