Telecom Solutions Satellite Services Telecom Training Resource Services & L-TAC Service

Telecom Solutions Satellite Services Telecom Training Resource Services Introduction The Challenge Military users need to command widely dispersed forces in austere environments without the delay of deploying terrestrial infrastructures. UHF TACSAT channels are in short-supply and expensive. The Requirement To increase the number of TACSAT channels for voice and data over tactical, theatre and strategic distances using existing tactical radios with their in-built encryption. The Solution SlingShot™ - Spectra’s small, lightweight external appliqué for military radios, allows low-latency voice and data regional communications with the additional option of connecting to an out-of-theatre rear based command node. AND L-TAC - Inmarsat’s communications network provides L-band to L-band Beyond Line of Sight communications from a global constellation of geostationary satellites.

Telecom Solutions Satellite Services Telecom Training Resource Services Solution Overview L-TAC Supplement UHF TACSAT channels with L-band TACSAT Channels (Inmarsat I-4 Satellites) Narrow Beams, Regional Beams, Generated Beams Lease airtime for a minimum of 1 month Based on 25kHz channel (1 x Wideband or 5 x ANDVT nets) Data – Throughput depending on channel and radio C-band antenna in user HQ (out of area) can be connected to the Radio Net SlingShot™ Variants: Manpack Vehicle Marine Aviation UHF VHF Antennas Manpack (Omni) Vehicle (Omni) (Land / Marine) Directional (Regional Beam) Input Frequency – Fixed offset automatic by translator Tested Radios to date Harris - PRC 117F (Wideband Voice/ANDVT, HPW and ViaSat Data) Harris - PRC 117G (Wideband Voice) Harris - PRC 152 (Wideband Voice) Harris - RF5800M-HH (Wideband Voice, IP Voice) Thales - PRC 148 Supported by 24/7 NOC Inmarsat Type Approved
