Clean Air Council Green Economy Goals, Strategies and Actions  Goal:  To build a larger and more resilient green economy sector in the Greater Golden Horseshoe and Southwest Ontario region.  Strategies:  Develop a regional definition for the green economy in order to create greater consistency across the region on types of industries and services and types of green jobs that can be tracked over time.  Identify actions and lessons learned from other regional green economy initiatives.  Identify existing coordination between municipal sustainability/environmental policies/departments and economic development programs/departments. 7

Strategies (Continued…)  Identify opportunities to foster greater coordination, and prioritize goals and activities to achieve it.  Identify existing green economy clusters in existence across the Region.  Identify existing green economy training and education available in the Region.  Identify gaps and opportunities in clusters, training and education and partners to collaborate with to address those gaps and opportunities.  Identify effective policies at the federal, provincial, regional and local level that support the growth of green economy businesses and jobs.  Work with key clusters to identify opportunities to support and enhance the ability of those clusters to play a greater role in regional economic growth and sustainability. 8

Actions:  Undertake a summary of green economy reports and collaboratives, and identify key actions, lessons learned and possible partners.  Undertake a survey/interview of municipal coordination between sustainability departments and economic development departments.  Bring together key partners, lessons learned at October 26 th, 2012 Regional Coordination for a Greener Economy Summit. (If not enough key partners can be brought together for the October 2012 time period, then the Summit would likely take place in the spring of 2013.)  Identify regional green economy coordination next steps and goals at Summit. 9
