Australian Blueprint for Career Development (the Blueprint) Career Transition Support

The Australian Blueprint for Career Development provides guidelines for helping to integrate and strengthen career development learning in a wide variety of settings throughout the nation. It contains two main components: 1. The career competencies that all Australians need to develop in order to effectively manage life, learning and work. 2. Processes for planning, implementing and evaluating career programs and resources. Career Transition Support

Although the Blueprint has multiple goals, its primary aim is to have users work with a national framework of competencies to create comprehensive, effective and measurable career development programs which help Australians to better manage their lives, learning and work. Career Transition Support

Career Keys have developed a comprehensive career development resource comprising of three transition workbooks used in schools across Australia. Each workbook uses innovative easy to follow activities designed to complement classroom practices and stimulate discussion.

Career Transition Support With the Blueprint trial funding, Career Keys assigned two Career Advisers to review each book against the 11 competencies and the four developmental life phases.

Career Transition Support A focus group was formed to assist in this process which consisted of: -Deputy Principal of Browns Plains SHS -Deputy Principal of Marsden SHS - Teacher at Marsden SHS -Career Advisers at Career Keys

The Blueprint makes the benefits of participating in VET in Schools Programs, enterprise education activities and of developing employability skills and attributes obvious. It also places considerable emphasis on the importance of acquiring lifelong learning habits. Career Transition Support

The Blueprint provides an excellent starting point for schools that are establishing, redesigning or examining a career development program because it is very much about identifying and confirming the positive activities that are already occurring. Career Transition Support

Implementing the Blueprint will not only facilitate the career development of individuals, it will also assist schools to achieve many of the overarching goals of schooling. Career Transition Support
