3 Patients and the public “When referring to ‘patients’, ‘lay individuals’ or ‘patients and public’ the GMC means a wide variety of individuals and groups. Each could bring.. (TD 2009) Domain 5 – Design and delivery of the curriculum, including assessment Feedback and assessment: All doctors, other health and social care workers, patients and carers who come into contact with the student should have an opportunity to provide constructive feedback about their performance. Feedback about performance in assessments helps to identify strengths and weaknesses, both in students and in the curriculum, and this allows changes to be made.

But this should be balanced with the need to ensure independence of their perspective from the institution itself.”
