Steve’s contribution to technology Marketed the first commercially successful computer, the Apple II. Popularized Xerox PARC’s graphic user interface. Played a roll in introducing one of the first, widely available laser printers. The iPod and iTunes changed the way people bought and listened to music.

Contribution to technology (continued) The iPhone is one of the most popular Smart Phone and made it easy to access apps, , calendars and contacts all in one phone. The Mac OS is the foundation of all of the Apple devices and they wouldn’t be the same without the Mac OS.

Bill Gates’ childhood October 28, 1955 Born in Seattle, Washington In 1967, he enrolled in an exclusive private school in Seattle called the Lakeside School where he meets Paul Allen. In 1973, Gates enrolled in Harvard as a pre-law major but dropped out two years later. In 1975, he offers to develop software for MITS Altair. They eventually accept and purchase his language for $3,000.

Bill’s Career In 1975, Paul and Bill register Microsoft as a trademark. In 1977, they set up Microsoft in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 1979: Microsoft relocates to Bellevue, Washington. 1983: Allen leaves after developing Hodgkin’s disease. 1986: Microsoft goes public. 1987: Bill is 31 and the youngest billionaire alive. 1994: Bill marries Malinda French and the Gateses create the William H. Gates foundation which later becomes the Bill & Malinda Gates foundation. 1995: Bill become the richest man in the world. 2000: Bill steps down as the CEO of Microsoft.

Bill’s Biggest Contributions He popularized the home computer. Paul Allen and Bill Gates created a language called BASIC which they sold to Altair which paved the way for the Home Computing era in the 80’s. He commercialized the operating system. Bought the 86 – DOS from the Seattle Computer Company. Launching Windows 95. Seventy percent of all computers run on some form of windows. Has donated $36.2 billion to charity. Through his charity the Bill and Malinda Gates foundation.

Who do I think is better? I think both men have contributed a lot to the world of technology. I think the men are equal in their accomplishments but I like Bill Gates more because he has contributed so much of his money to charity. Even though he was know to use unethical forms of business I think his donations have out shone his mistakes.
