contents 1 INTRODUCTION 2 CIRCUMSTANCES 3 FLOWSHEET OF PLANT 4 MACHINES 5 APPLICATIONS

1 INTRODUCTION problems of fly ash Present production rate of fly ash  In the United States about 131 million tons of fly ash are produced annually  125 mio t/year in the EU, 300 mio t/year China+India Groundwater contamination Spills of bulk storage Landfilling

1 INTRODUCTION possible applications Portland cement  can replace up to 30% by mass of Portland cement  can add to the concrete’s final strength and increase its chemical resistance and durability  Only class C ash (contains more than 20% lime, does not require an activator ) Geopolymers

 The reacting product consists of SiO 4 and AlO 4 tetrahedrons (network)  Can be made from natural sources of pozzolanic material such as fly ash (class F fly ash)  Resistant to chemicals  Rapid-hardening with high strenghts  High density  Temperature stable  Ecological construction material (pozzolanic = A pozzolan is a siliceous or siliceous / aluminous material that, when mixed with lime and water, forms a cementitious compound )

1 INTRODUCTION aim of the project Ethical Economical Save the raw materials Substitute landfilling by utilization Save energy Reduce CO2 Emissions Save the environment Sustainable development
