As they read they had to pull out defining characteristics of our first president and summarize their findings. Each student was responsible for completing research on an invention and its creator and creates a page in our “museum”. Photopeach – Online “movie making” program that allows students to synthesize research and communication new understandings. Voicethread – Online tool that allows students to present new knowledge and interact online.

Before we start...  Provide clear guidelines, rubrics and timeline for project.  Gather potential pictures, songs, websites for students (this will greatly cut down on “research” time).  Require a rough draft – simple sketch, storyboard, etc.  Have students create a daily task sheet – this will help them prioritize tasks and stay focused.  It is ok not to know everything about the program before you start. I usually learn just as much from the students as they do from me.
