The current Plan, will be implemented for four years ( ) is the third one made in the Region. Our Region has pioneered in the planning of policies and programs for the integration of immigrants in Spain. Those programs have been replicated by many other regions. Escuela de Profesionales de Inmigración y Cooperación de la Comunidad de Madrid 3.1 Participation and cultural integration of immigrants in the Region of Madrid: The Centers for Participation and Integration of Immigrants (CEPI) The Centers for Participation and Integration of Immigrants (CEPI) are framed in the participative and identificational / azonosulási dimension of the integration process: formation of feelings of belonging and identity in relation to the immigration society. The feeling of belonging to the host society is very important in the integration process. Without this feelings, immigrants are defined, or define themselves as a foreign body. This has to do with the frequency and intensity of social relations with both groups in a variety of social spaces 3. Innovative programs of the Region of Madrid

Escuela de Profesionales de Inmigración y Cooperación de la Comunidad de Madrid The model of cultural integration of the Region of Madrid, is seeking to break with the idea of homogeneity, respecting differences, promoting dialogue, mutual contact and exchange of cultural habits. For this, the Centers for Participation and Integration of Immigrants (CEPI) are: -Public resources with direct access. - They aim to be an open meeting space between native and immigrant population. - They promote cultural exchanges between different nationalities living together in the region of Madrid. - They acting as driving forces of relationships, thus contributing to the coexistence. To achieve those aims, the centers promote a responsible participation of immigrants. In this sense, they are consireded as agent of their integration in the frame of freedom and democratic values. 3. Innovative programs of the Region of Madrid

Escuela de Profesionales de Inmigración y Cooperación de la Comunidad de Madrid 3.2 Action for civic integration of immigrants: KNOW YOUR LAWS Initiative “Know and respect the rules for living together in freedom" Know your laws is an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Immigration and Cooperation (Ministry of Labour&Immigration / State Secretary of Immigration and Emigration). It allows to inform immigrants of the Region of Madrid on the basic principles of spanish law and legal system. It aims to promote the integration of immigrant population by giving, in a didactic (educative) way, key aspects of the spanish legal system and institutional levels. Those courses programme are led/run by professional lawyers who voluntarily cooperate in the project. They are in the staff of prestigious law offices like Garrigues, Cuatrocasas, Uria Menendez or Pedrajas. 3. Innovative programs of the Region of Madrid

The above courses are about : - Political and administrative organization as well as the Spanish institutional system. - It prioritizes the constitutional law mainly in the part of the fundamental rights and citizens’ obligations, - This program is based on the belief that understanding and respect for the norms of the host society is the main basis on which we have to build a pacific coexistence. - More than an obligation to know the laws, the program is a response to demands made by immigrants themselves, because they are primarily interested in living and working legally protected to avoid any situation of helplessness or legal uncertainty. 3. Escuela de Profesionales de Inmigración y Cooperación de la Comunidad de Madrid 3.3 Building capacity and academic education of professionals of Migration and development cooperation fields EPIC PROGRAMME The Region of Madrid created, in 2008, is the first Immigration School in Spain. The School of Professionals of Immigration and Developpement Cooperation is an innovative programme led by the regional governement. It aims to promote the integration of immigrants by giving a high quality training, awareness, participation and research to those profesionals who are working in the field of immigration and developement cooperation. 3. Escuela de Profesionales de Inmigración y Cooperación de la Comunidad de Madrid The regional government has approved a budget of 1,298,221 euros to achieve this initiative. The School provides a theoretical and practical training for the immigrants integration. The School programme provides also tools and action methods to resolve specific situations, and develop awareness strategies. The School promotes researches in the field of Development Cooperation and Migration, in coordination with the Regional Immigration Observatory Center. 3. Innovative programs of the Region of Madrid

Escuela de Profesionales de Inmigración y Cooperación de la Comunidad de Madrid The fundamental mission of the School is to train and support those working with immigrant integration and development cooperation by offering a wide range of educational services to individuals, organizations and institutions involved in this work. The educational model proposed by the EPIC is an outline of training modules that can be completed in whole or independently. Programme The EPIC has 2 educational programmes: BASIC TRAINING PROGRAMME: This programme provides a total of 46 courses and activities. The University of Rey Juan Carlos I is delivering the University Title of Professional of Immigration and Cooperation to those who pass all the courses included in the Basic Training Program, equivalent to 600 hours and having made a practice of 60 hours 3. Escuela de Profesionales de Inmigración y Cooperación de la Comunidad de Madrid MASTER PROGRAMME IN INTEGRATION AND DEVELOPEMENT COOPERATION AND CODEVELOPEMENT The Master of the EPIC is carried out with the cooperation of the Rey Juan Carlos University. It takes place over 12 months and has a workload of 600 hours. The studies plan covers an common area of training and two specializations areas to be choosen: Specialization in Integration (300h) Specialization in development cooperation and codevelopment (300h) 3.
