1 – DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT ACTIVITY 4 IONAS project extension In June 2005 the Municipality of Venice asked AICCRE to develop a specific training course on new structural funds for the IONAS Project partners, as activity for the project extension. AICCRE is an association of Local Authorities, with experience in training courses on EU funded projects. Since 1999 it has trained some people coming from all Italian Regions to get and to manage European funding opportunities. Its seat in Veneto is San Servolo Island, Venice. AICCRE developed the proposal that has become part of IONAS project.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE IDEA Euro Project Management: Online Training Course BACKGROUND: Regional Policies in Europe are based on financial solidarity, which means that part of Member States contributions to EU budget “go back” to Regions and weak territories through project financing. At the end of the period this funding (structural) will have come to 213 billions of Euro, a third of EU balance. The current period of Structural Funds programs and instruments will come to its end in December 2006 and the Commission, the Member States and the regions are preparing for the new programming period between 2007 and The new programme is a n important opportunity and challenge that cannot be missed!

DEVELOPMENT OF THE IDEA Euro Project Management: Online Training Course THE IDEA: To organise a training activity for raising awareness on the new funding period 2007 – 2013 and to provide partner organisations useful skills for fund raising and project management in Interreg activities in the future years. The course shall focus on the PRINCIPLES of Structural Funds Management (part 1), on PRACTICAL ASPECTS (part 2), putting into evidence the differences between OLD and NEW funding opportunities and instruments. 2007…

DEFINITION OF THE ACTIVITIES Euro Project Management: Online Training Course THE STRUCTURE: The course is made of two main parts: 1PRINCIPLES OF STRUCTURAL FUNDS MANAGEMENT 2PRACTICAL ASPECTS Each part is organised in MODULES, divided in SECTIONS that are made by a set of UNITS. The Unit is the standard component for the training about its size, format, credits (i.e. estimated number of hours). COURSE PART MODULE SECTION UNIT
