Myers-Briggs

Myers-Briggs Inspired by Carl Jung’s psychological types Developed by Katherine Briggs and Isabel Myers in 1943 Wanted to help people understand themselves and others

Extroversion or Introversion: source of energy Get energy from the “outer world” Like having people around them most of the time Sociable, enthusiastic Act quickly, sometimes without thinking Get energy from the “inner world” Enjoy having a lot of time for quiet activities so they can concentrate Think things through carefully before making a decision Comfortable with a few close friends

Sensing or Intuition: how you perceive information Sensing (S) Intuition (N) Believes in information gained from the external world Like to use facts, details, and examples to solve problems May distrust and ignore their inspirations Have a regular way of doing things Believe in the information from the internal world Rely on insights and imagination Enjoy solving new complex problems Good at seeing the big picture Prefer change

Thinking or Feeling: How a person processes information When making decisions, look at consistency and logic. When making a decision: Analyze pro’s and con’s. Be impersonal. Find basic truth rather than looking at the situation. Use emotions to make decisions When making a decision: Weighing in points-of-view of people involved. Concerned with values and the people involved. Choosing whatever will establish harmony.

Judging or Perceiving: how a person implements information that has been processed Live in an organized, structured, planned way Have life “under control” Like to make lists and keep on schedule *Does not mean that you are judgmental of others Flexible, unstructured, and spontaneous Leave things open for last minute changes Dislike deadlines, schedules, and may postpone tasks that need to be done What teachers have you had that tend to be more judging than perceiving?

Myers-Briggs Inventory 4 letter combo + #’s under each letter Paragraph summary of your type (4 sentences) 5 possible careers that would fit your type 5 famous personalities that have your same type The qualitative analysis of your type formula listed in 4 bullet points Answer the questions below.
