seminal vesicles The two seminal vesicles secrete fluid that makes up most (60%) of the semen. This thick fluid contains sugars to nourish the sperm.

prostate gland This gland secretes a fluid which is part of the semen. The thin fluid is milky and alkaline.

bulbourethral glands These two glands secrete a clear mucus just before the semen is ejaculated. It acts as a lubricant.

scrotum This skin covered pouch holds the testes. It is internally divided into two pouches. The muscles in the scrotum can move the testes away from or towards the body.

testes The two testes are the primary male reproductive organs. They produce sperm. Want to know more?

epididymis This is a folded tube where sperm are stored and matured. This folded tube is 5-6m long and sits folded up behind the testes.

erectile tissue The erectile tissue of the penis has lot of spongy spaces that fill with blood and cause the penis to erect. Once erect the penis can be inserted into the vagina.

urethra The urethra is a tube that runs through the penis. It can transport urine or semen out of the body.

vas deferens The two tubes connect the epididymis of each testis to the urethra. Sperm are carried away from the testes to the urethra.

The testes are made up of a series of lobes The testes are made up of a series of lobes. Each lobe consists of coiled seminiferous tubules. These tubes are lined with the cells that make the sperm.
