A Look into the Future of Life in Missouri! By C. Rhein Teacher’s page To Activity

Teachers Page MAP Objective: The learner will be able to correlate the variation among organisms in a population with their ability to survive in a changing environment. The teacher may want to take the students to the library to research animals indigenous to Missouri and find information on acid rain, greenhouse effect, and ozone depletion. This activity will be graded upon the picture and the article. The picture must contain a physical adaptation. The article must contain research from at least one environmental problem leading to the current conditions of Missouri. It must also include the behavioral adaptations to these conditions, its habitat, feeding, and interactions with others. Go Back

You’re in the Future! It is the year You now live on Mars in your deluxe space age condominium. You have a job as a journalist for “MarsTech Magazine”. They have given you an assignment of traveling down to Earth, which is only inhabited by a few wildlife and nomadic humans. Click here for the assignment! Go BackBack

Your Assignment You have been assigned to write an article and take a picture of the remaining wildlife that lurks around the desolate earth for an upcoming article entitled “What Happened?” Before you begin your journey, you must research exactly what has happened to Missouri for the past 2081 years. Research Go Back

The Past 2081 Years There was an overpopulation of humans on the earth. They used all of the fossil fuels, which we know are nonrenewable. They also used all of the renewable resources, such as trees, at a rate that was too quick to be replenished. There was an increased acidity in the rain droplets. The Ozone layer became depleted. Due to the Green House Effect the atmospheric temperature raised. The water and air became heavily contaminated. Your Your Mission! Go Back

What you must accomplish to be paid by “MarsTech”! You must create a picture of one of the wildlife that adapted to the new environment in Missouri in the year You must also write a one page article for your interested readers. Click here to find out the criteria for the article! Go Back

The Article You must also write a one page in-depth article for your interested readers. The article must include: 1. A description of the environment in Missouri in the year 4081 due to either acid rain, greenhouse effect, or ozone layer depletion. 2. A description of how the animal looked in Missouri in the year A description of the animal in the year (The description should entail a physical adaptation to the environment and a behavioral adaptation to the environment). 4.You must also describe one day in the life of the animal you studied, including habitat, feeding, and relationships with others. Helpful Hints! Go Back

HELPFUL HINTS FOR THE ARTICLE! Research Acid Rain, Greenhouse Effect, and Ozone Layer Depletion to include in the article about current conditions of Missouri. The library, or internet will contain animals indigenous to Missouri. Remember: Humans have created chaos on Earth, destroying all the trees for personal use and not replenishing the supply, contaminating air and water supply. Go Back GOOD LUCK!
