Graphene-metal nanocomposite as electrocatalysts for energy conversion reactions Let’s try Web of Science

1. Identify the keywords in your topic 2. Find the synonyms of the keyword 3. Look for different variations of the keyword e.g. Electrocataly* Go to Web of Science Graphene-metal nanocomposite as electrocatalysts for energy conversion reactions Nanocomposite, nanoparticle electrocatalysis, electrocatalysts, electrocatalyst, electrocatalytic Electro* Electrolyte Electronics X

4. Use Boolean operators 5. Construct the search statement Go to Web of Science (Graphene* AND metal* AND (nanocomposite* OR nanoparticle*) AND electrocataly*) AND – Use to find records containing all terms separated by the operator OR - Use to find records containing any of the terms separated by the operator

EndNoteX7 Library Features Remove Duplicates References > Find Duplicates Delete Unwanted References Select references, then, References > Move References to Trash Note: To delete References permanently, References > Empty Trash Attach Files (PDF, images, etc) to a reference Select a reference, References > File Attachments > Attach File... Import PDF files (with DOI number) to a reference Select a reference, File > Import > File then select your PDF file Import option > select “PDF” > import

EndNoteX7 Library Features Synchronize with EndNote web* Edit > preference > Sync Mark references as read and unread in EndNote library Select references, then, Right click > Mark unread [or] Mark read references with PDF attachment from EndNote Highlight the reference > click on the symbol * Sync limits: records or 5000 groups or 5GB attachment

EndNoteX7 in MS Word 2013

In the dropdown menu. c. The EndNoteX7 Library will open. d. Enter the search term in the Find box and click the Search button. e. Click on the reference to select the term and click the Insert button. Cite While You Write: Searching References in MS Word 2013

a. In an EndNote X7 library, highlight a reference b. In Microsoft MS Word 2013, place cursor at insertion point. c. Look for the EndNote X7 toolbar:- For MS Word 2013, click on the button “Insert Citation” Click “Insert Selected Citation(s)” d. The reference is inserted Editing Citations in MS Word 2013

Cite While You Write: Citing References in MS Word 2013 a. For MS Word 2013, click on “Edit & Manage Citation(s)“ b. Select the reference which is to be removed and click “Remove” c. The reference will be removed and all other references will be automatically re-arranged

Change Reference Style a.In Microsoft MS Word 2013, look for the EndNote X7 toolbar For MS Word 2013, go to Style: > Select another style b.Under Select another style… c.Select the desired journal style from the list. e.g. ACS (American Chemical Society) d.The references are now re-formatted.

Journal Citation Reports  A comprehensive and unique resource that allows you to evaluate and compare journals  It makes use of citation and article counts entirely from the Web of Science ® databases Point to note: It is not possible to obtain a JCR impact factor of a journal that is not covered in the Web of Science ® databases

Journal Impact Factor It measures how frequently the average article in a journal has been cited in a particular year.

Journal Immediacy Index  Indicates how quickly articles published in a journal are cited within the same year  Indicates the “hottest” journals that publishes the latest research in the fast-moving specialties

What are the top-ranked multidisciplinary journals in Chemistry? Journal Citation Report (JCR) Demo

How to use the Journal Citation Report To Find :Data to use in JCR: Most frequently cited journals in a field Total Cites Highest impact journals in a fieldImpact factor Largest journals in a fieldArticles “Hottest” journal in a fieldImmediacy Index

 Developed by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS)  Information from:  > 10,000 currently published journals  > 38 million organic and inorganic substances  Patents from > 57 patent authorities  Explore database by:  Chemical structures or biological sequences  Substructures and reactions  Research topic, author, company, substance name  cont’ ….. SciFinder - overview

IR, MS spectra, Proton Carbon NMR spectra Bioactivity and target indicators for biochemistry e.g. new drug development Updated daily Register for a SciFinder account using NUS and confirm the after the registration is done Click here to access SciFinder and for more informationhere Cont’ …..

42 Tips to construct a search statement  Combine the concept using prepositions / conjunctions 1)  Do not use truncation or wildcard symbols e.g. * !  Do not use Boolean logic or word groupings Limitation for a search statement : Max 7 concepts, max 40 words, max 3 Boolean operators (e.g. AND, OR) to define a single concept, max 8 terms to be used to define a single concept

43 An Example… 43 Cross coupling reaction of Olefin with Rhodium catalyst Cross coupling reaction AND Olefin AND Rhodium catalyst* X 43
