Can you feel it…

not just any pride…

we’re talking about…

Rochester Pride…

what’s Rochester Pride, you ask?

Well…

McClelland is proud that… their students are respectful and have a superior vocabulary regarding character education. They have the tools and use them especially when out of the building on trips, concerts, etc.

McClelland is proud that… their students are creative and artistic, that the specialists work very hard to surround their students with arts based education that supports their classroom learning and 4 th /5 th grade had over 90% participation in band/chorus!

McClelland is proud that… their students are leaders and that they have a great student leadership team that works hard to seek out problem areas in their school and create/implement fabulous solutions that make their school better!

McClelland is proud that… their school has an awesome whole school morning meeting each week that binds them together as a community. This has been a great time management tool and time saver for them in regards to assemblies and also helps them to get unified communication to all. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend!

McClelland is proud that… their staff has an effective collaborative approach that is used in terms of decision making and the family atmosphere that is conveyed by the caring that takes place and all the fun activities.

McClelland is proud that… their school culture is very strong and due in large part to a very active and enthusiastic PBIS team.

McClelland is proud that… they were the recipient of a $1,200 grant from Lowes. This grant is being used to improve the outside grounds of the school. Representatives from Lowes, staff, students and PTA members will be collaborating to improve the outside look of the school to boost school culture.

McClelland is proud that… they effectively implement and practice sound math fact fluency consistently throughout our curriculum. This was evident when their school team won the Mathalon as well as their student, Kyle Levine, who won 1 st place in the Mathalon!

McClelland is proud that… they offer “family” oriented activities such as Craft Night, October Fall Walk and Saturday Fall Festival.

McClelland is proud that… their school community is dedicated to the excellence of student achievement, both academically and emotionally.

William Allen is proud that… they started PBIS Universal Team and have completed many successful roll outs!

William Allen is proud that… in May 2012 they held the 2 nd Annual Geography Bee!

William Allen is proud that… in March 2012 they held the 3 rd Annual Writing Celebration!

William Allen is proud that… in May 2012 they held the 1 st Annual School Pride Day!

William Allen is proud that… they were featured in ASCD Smart Brief for implementing iPads into the learning environment!

East Rochester is proud that… they have Citizens of the Month recognizing outstanding student performance.

East Rochester is proud that… they have students who engage in extracurricular activities both in sports and civic activities in the community.

East Rochester is proud that… they have caring adults who understand that a student can’t learn unless basic needs are met and go about filling those needs.

East Rochester is proud that… they recycle their food products and reduce how much trash they create.

East Rochester is proud that… they have a generous staff and students who join together to support people and agencies in need through the donation of time, products and money.

School Street School is proud that… they made AYP for 2 consecutive years in Reading and Math and are no longer a SINI – one of a few in the state who got off “the list”!

School Street School is proud that… they find ways to support their families through personal connections, social work, by knowing all of their students, friendly environment, breaking down barriers from past negative experiences, afterschool monthly clubs on Thursdays: Game Club, Lego Club, Cooking Club, Art Club etc.

School Street School is proud that… they hold monthly assemblies: Whole School Assemblies – recognizing academic & personal accomplishments of students and staff.

School Street School is proud that… they have Caroline, who is the “best cook”!

School Street School is proud that… they use Title I staff supports to improve learning outcomes!

School Street School is proud that… they have 8 raised vegetable and flower garden beds planted and maintained by the Garden Club.

School Street School is proud that… they partnered with UNH for the Storm Water Drain Project – rain gardens.

Chamberlain is proud that… they had strong attendance during their summer tutoring program.

Chamberlain is proud that… they have numerous activities and clubs before and after school for students.

Chamberlain is proud that… they recognize students for their many accomplishments: attendance, academics, citizenship etc.

Chamberlain is proud that… they are rooted in PBIS!

Chamberlain is proud that… they have teachers who work hard to help students succeed.

RMS is proud that… a large number of RMS staff participated in professional development over the summer including Competency Camp.

RMS is proud that… all summer programs ran smoothly.

RMS is proud that… the RMS multi-grade teachers have planned a Pen Pal program which will be implemented in September.

RMS is proud that… while the “official” rollout of competencies will be in September 2013, several departments are well on their way in developing competencies and rubrics.

RMS is proud that… during the summer of 2012, the RMS Administrative Team developed a new meeting schedule which will allow the Assistant Principals an opportunity to meet with each team weekly.

RMS is proud that… the RMS staff is reaching out to new teachers by highlighting “Tips for New Teachers”.

RMS is proud that… based on staff feedback, the RMS Administrative Team has developed a rubric that is aligned with the Behavior Reporting Form to provide a higher level of student consistency.

SHS is proud that… ROTC has a large number of incoming freshmen that have already been in the building this summer and are excited to join this high quality program.

SHS is proud that… Joanne Houston was named NH Band Director of the Year.

SHS is proud that… they continue to offer and extend Collaborative Classes!

SHS is proud that… they received CTSO National accomplishments: Skills USA, FBLA, FCCLA as well as outstanding representation at national conferences.

SHS is proud that… they continue to make progress with competencies.

SHS is proud that… approximately 30 students graduated from RCE.

SHS is proud that… they have implemented Alternative Pathways.

SHS is proud that… the cafeteria has been remodeled.

SHS is proud that… the number of 9 th graders failing 1 or more classes has gone down!

SHS is proud that… the drop out rate once over 130 students has gone down to the TEENS!

SHS is proud that… Major Dan Heeter was named the Socrates Award winner.

Nancy Loud School is proud that… they have a dedicated staff.

Nancy Loud School is proud that… had 2 staff recognized as Employees of the Month last year.

Nancy Loud School is proud that… they have great behavior in school and on the bus.

Nancy Loud School is proud that… at the end of last year 90% of their kindergarten students were above benchmark on the DIBELS.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… the overall number of student athletes is up in the past two years – more kids involve with athletics.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… they added two Unified Sports Teams which allows special education and regular education students to play on the same team.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… our Unified Soccer Team in 2011 – 2012 won the first ever NHIAA State Championship.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… three teams (football, boys’ basketball, ice hockey) qualified and played in the semi-finals in their respective sports.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… our football program got the NH Most Improved Program in 2011.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… numerous teams ranked in the top 1/3 in Division 1 for sportsmanship voting.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… our coaching staff was 100% certified in coaches education including concussion management course.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… our RMS athletic teams had a successful year in numerous sports.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… each of our athletic teams put on displays in the gym at both SHS open houses with the goal of increasing participation.

Rochester Athletics is proud that… they had 21 NHIAA scholar-athletes with recognition for their GPA and community service participation (seniors only).

Title I is proud that… they provide critical personnel to schools: William Allen, Maple Street Magnet School, Nancy Loud School, Chamberlain and School Street School.

Title I is proud that… they provide wide spread involvement in support for under resourced families.

Title I is proud that… they have been a point of entry for a number of talented individuals who have later been hired to regular education positions.

Title I is proud that… they take a leadership role in Rochester Reads!

Title I is proud that… they maintain a focus on Parent Involvement.

Special Education is proud that… the Early Childhood Education Program has expanded into the community to include 48 more students.

Special Education is proud that… the Rochester Learning Academy brought back student into the Rochester Community and will continue efforts to keep students in Rochester.

Special Education is proud that… a new Autism Program and re- vamped Hope Program will be expanding to the Gonic Mill.

Special Education is proud that… they have increased the use of iPad technology for students with disabilities.

Special Education is proud that… the SHS Skills Classes are a model of collaboration between regular and special education staff.

Special Education is proud that… of the excellent staff – teachers, related service providers, para- educators and support staff.

Special Education is proud that… there are wonderful programs and services unique to each school building with a continuum of services to meet every student’s needs.

Special Education is proud that… the number of students requiring special education services has been reduced due to the RTI models and interventions in place prior to referrals.

Gonic is proud that… they work as an educational team each and everyday to positively impact the lives and learning of their students!

Gonic is proud that… they had a model implementation of the Student Engagement & Learning Plan!

Gonic is proud that… they have an incredible PBIS team, which has helped to shape the school culture!

Gonic is proud that… they use data to make informed decisions about student learning!

Gonic is proud that… they are working with the greater school community to improve the playground for their students.

Maple Street Magnet School is proud that… they are the FIRST Magnet School in the State of New Hampshire!

Maple Street Magnet School is proud that… they have been in school since August 7 and will have 200 days of school!

Maple Street Magnet School is proud that… they have an amazing team of educators who spent countless hours collaborating this summer to prepare for their opening.
