SIP & Quality Assurance Review Team Report Tchefuncte Middle School “Laying Foundations for the Future!” The Review Team appreciated the opportunity to tour your great school where it is so evident that children are cared for and learn each day.

QAR Strategic Goal 1: Shared Purpose Developing a Shared Understanding & Fostering Collaboration Commendations Learning is FUN and students love to come to school Safe and positive school climate with a supportive faculty Visible and welcoming administrative team Community support Culture of continuous improvement – Students are set up for success! ADVANCED Domain 1: Leadership Capacity The school maintains and communicates its purpose and direction through implementation of strategies that improve the learner and educator performance.

QAR Strategic Goal 2: Student Learning Teacher Effectiveness & Student Learning Commendations Students were able to articulate what they are learning and the real-life connection. Collaborative learning environment: Small groups were observed Students grouped according to data (exit tickets) Through the variety of learning opportunities offered, students are encouraged and supported in increasing language skills, vocabulary development, and writing across the curriculum. AdvancED Domain 2: Learning Capacity The school’s curriculum, instructional design, and assessment practices guide and ensure teacher effectiveness and student learning.

QAR Strategic Goal 4: Resource Allocation Refining Access to Resources, Support & Technology Commendations Students’ needs come first Use of interventions Positive statements about involvement of the SRO and MHP in all aspects of the school Facilities were immaculate AdvancED Domain 3: Resource Capacity The school has resources and provides services that support its purpose and direction to ensure success for all students.

Planning & Preparation: Setting Instructional Outcomes Focused learning observed Activities aligned to course standards Lessons aligned to STPPS Guaranteed Curriculum Classroom Environment: Managing Classroom Procedures - 100% of the observations indicated respectful, positive teacher-student relationships are evident - Teachers manage transitions effectively - Effective routines and practices are in place - 98% of the observations indicated instructional time is used effectively

Instruction: Questioning/Discussion Techniques, Engaging Students, and Using Assessments - 42% of the observations indicated that differentiation was evident. - 74% of the students were highly engaged/engaged, and 26% were observed to be well-managed. - 59% of the level of student work observed was at the applying level or above Technology - Teachers using technology to enhance instruction.

4TH Grade ELA with points 4th Grade Math with 89.7 points 6th Grade Social Studies with 88.3 points Students with Disabilities increased 6.7 points overall Hispanic Students increased 14.6 points in ELA

Whole School Overall decrease from 90 points to 87.4 points 5th Grade Math decrease from 87.4 points to 78.4 points 6th Grade ELA decrease from 95.4 points to 87 points African American ELA at 59.2 points and Math at 53.2 points Economically Disadvantaged Math at 67.6 points

18 SIP Goals for Math Overall Math Assessment Index Increases
4th grade from 58 to 63 points 5th Grade from 42 to 47 points 6th Grade from 60 to 65 points African Americans will increase by 5 points from 53.2 to 58.2.

19 SIP Goals for ELA Overall Assessment Index increases
4th grade from 76 to 86 points 5th grade from 45 to 55 points 6th grade from 48 to 58 points Economically Disadvantaged will increase by 5 points from 78.9 to 83.9 points

20 SIP Goals for Social Studies
All grade levels will increase Social Studies Assessment Index scores by 2 points

21 QAR Improvement Priorities
Strategic Goal #1 – Shared Purpose Continue to use data to drive the decision-making process Parents report needing assistance with Eureka homework Strategic Goal #2 – Instruction Increase instructional differentiation for all students Increase opportunities for students to work at higher Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels Increase usage of math manipulatives Release more of the learning responsibilities to the students Recommendations include: Read the slide.

Strategic Goal - #3 Culture of Improvement Increase descriptive feedback being provided to the students Teachers indicate needing assistance with more interventions to best support the at-risk students Strategic Goal - #4 Resource Allocation Increase student use of technology (67% of the technology tools being used were by the teachers)
