BASIC GUIDELINES FOR YOUR INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
BE RESPONSIBLE 1. Be on Time. 2. Call the internship site if you are sick or unable to attend- Always communicate so that the site knows what to expect 3. Do your best work at the internship site
Be a Positive Self Starter- Show Initiative Project a positive attitude Be enthusiastic about learning. Ask questions and show an interest in what you are doing If you finish a job, look around to see what else needs to be done Don’t wait to be told everything to do
Be a Communicator Ask questions if you don’t understand Let the workplace know about some of your specific work skills Let the internship site know what you want to learn at the site Let me know if you have any problems or concerns with your internship

REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE REPRESENTING KEARNS HIGH SCHOOL ( Don’t wreck a site so that KHS students won’t be invited back)
LIABILITY ISSUES
IF YOU ARE INJURED WHILE ON YOUR INTERNSHIP TELL YOUR WORKSITE SUPERVISOR IMMEDIATELY CALL AND TELL ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
IF YOUR INJURY REQUIRES MEDICAL ATTENTION: IF YOU ARE AN UNPAID INTERN: You are covered by the Murray School District’s Worker’s Compensation Fund IF YOU ARE AN UNPAID INTERN: You are covered by the Murray School District’s Worker’s Compensation Fund YOU NEED TO BE TREATED AT ONE OF THE FACILITIES LISTED ON THE PINK LIABILITY CARD
If you seek medical treatment somewhere other than a facility listed on the card, the district’s insurance policy WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSES. You will need to pay for them yourself.
EVALUATION: You will be evaluated at the end of each term by your worksite supervisor

TIME REQUIREMENTS
1 period internship= 4 hours per week 1 period internship= 70 hours per semester
Time sheets need to be signed by work supervisor
Time sheets need to be turned in on time! ( 5 pts. Deducted for each day late)

Should you miss class for a doctors or orthodontist appointment? No. Schedule these visits on a day other than class. We only meet ONCE A WEEK
How many hours am I required to be at the internship site per term? 1 period internship = 30 hours 2 period internship = 60 hours
Is homework that is due before midterm accepted after midterm? NO
If time sheets are late, how much are they deducted? Five points per day
If you are an unpaid intern, and are injured at the internship site, what do you do? 1. Tell your work site supervisor 2. Seek medical help at one of the places listed on your pink card 3. Tell me asap
