HISD Becoming #GreatAllOver 2 CTE and academic teachers at all high school campuses planning together to develop transdisciplinary curricula for students Local businesses and industry partners working with campuses to provide student opportunities for field experiences, job shadowing, and internships as well as teacher externships Students entering the workforce directly or following postsecondary education more aware of career choices and required skills

HISD Becoming #GreatAllOver Career Preparation and Practicum Courses 3  LEA and the training sponsor plan and supervise instruction cooperatively  Participation in occupationally specific classroom instruction and training site experiences

HISD Becoming #GreatAllOver Career Preparation Courses 4  Paid experience only  Training component: TEKS  Combination of training and instruction  Course span: 1 year  Classroom instruction time requirement  Minimum age: 16 years and valid work documentation  In case of loss of job/internship

HISD Becoming #GreatAllOver Practicum Courses 5  Specific to a career cluster  Combination of learning experience and instruction  Laboratory-based, paid, or unpaid work experiences  Course span: 1 year  Classroom instruction time requirement  Minimum age: 16 years and valid work documentation for paid component  In case of loss of paid learning experience

HISD Becoming #GreatAllOver Documentation  Training Plans: – Must be dated prior to start date – Start date must be within 15 days of first day of class – Unpaid: No Social Security Number Required – Hospitals: One signed copy as a cover to all Training Plans for that session – Training plan forms available at  Child Labor Law Form: Paid Career Preparation and Paid Practicum courses only  Hazardous Occupational Orders Form: All Career Preparation and Practicum courses  Exception: Unpaid training provided by teacher Career Preparation and Practicum Courses

HISD Becoming #GreatAllOver Required Site Visits by Teachers  At least six times each school year  At least one training site visit during each grading period  Time provided for teacher to visit the training sites  Not during the teacher’s planning and preparation period Career Preparation and Practicum Courses

HISD Becoming #GreatAllOver Contact Hours  Paid: First day of enrollment, provided training plan is on file within 15 school days of the student’s employment date  Unpaid: First day of enrollment, provided written training plan is completed and on file before the student begins participating in training at the site Career Preparation and Practicum Courses

HISD Becoming #GreatAllOver Additional Requirements  Change of Training Site: Change of Training Station document to be submitted within 5 days along with new Training Plan Career Preparation and Practicum Courses
