Prejudice In the beginning of the book there was some prejudicial things being said. Mrs. Enright said that she hated that all the island and all the blacks. This is prejudice because she disliked the blacks. Phillip was being prejudice when he stated that there are barefooted Japanese soldiers standing in the submarine. This was prejudice because he suspected the Japanese to be too poor to afford shoes. Phillip was also prejudice when he adressed the black people as negros. This is prejudice because he gave them a different name just because they have different skin.

Prejudice In the middle of the book Phillip was really prejudice towards Timothy. He was prejudice when he first met Timothy and called him the biggest negro he’s ever seen. He also was prejudice when he didn’t think of Timothy as a Mr. because he was black. This is prejudice because he didn’t think blacks were the same. He also was prejudice when Timothy told Phillip not to look at the sun and Phillip ignored him because he was black. Phillip was also prejudice when he thought blacks were weird and strange because Timothy ate raw fish. Phillip was also prejudice when he was glad that he saw and knew Timothy was black.

Prejudice In the end of the book Phillip was a little prejudice. He was when he thought that Timothy was going to kill Stew Cat. This is prejudice because he thinks he is crazy just because he’s black. At the very end of the book Phillip wasn’t prejudice anymore because he finally noticed everyone’s the same.

Phillip Phillip is rude in the beginning of the book. An example is when he totally ignored his mom and went far away from home. This is rude because he didn’t listen to his mom. Phillip is also rude in the middle of the book. He was rude when he yelled out in the raft that it was his mothers fault that he was on the raft. This is rude because he blamed it on his mom that he was there and he made Timothy feel like Phillip didn’t like him. Phillip was rude in the end of the book when he didn’t do any work on the island. He was also was rude when he said why didn’t Timothy take them with him when he died.

Phillip Phillip is also prejudice. In the beginning Phillip was prejudice when he said that he felt bad for the barefooted Chinese soldiers. This is prejudice because he assumed that the Chinese couldn’t afford shoes. He was prejudice in the middle too. He was prejudice when he called Timothy the biggest negro he’s ever seen. This is prejudice because he was judging Timothy. Phillip wasn’t really prejudice in the end of the book because he noticed that it doesn’t matter what the color of your skin is.

Phillip Enright Jr.  Phillip is a 11-yearold boy.  He wasn’t scared of the war untill the ship was bombed.  Now Phillip is blind.  He is prejudice towards black people.  He also can be a little brat.

Timothy Timothy is an old Negro. He is very strong. He also is smart and has lots of wisdom. He is a nice man but Phillip hasn’t noticed. Timothy only wanted to help Phillip He is working very hard to keep him alive.

Epilogue Ten years later I decided to find the Cay. On the way there I was thinking about what happened there and what the Cay looked like. This is what came to my mind. I remembered the twenty to thirty palm trees. I also remember the little shaft I made at the top of the hill. I also remember the beaches and where my old fishing spot was. I also could imagine the spot that I buried Timothy. I couldn’t wait to reach the Cay. Then I started to remember the things that happened on the island. I remember when I thought Timothy killed Stew cat. I also remember when I first started to fish when I was blind. I was in tears by the time I remembered how I gained self- confidence and climbed the palm tree and got the coconuts. When I finally arrived to the Cay I was in shock. I still could see where I buried Timothy’s grave. The shaft I made was completely destroyed, but the palms and pieces of wood in which I use to build it were still there. The path Timothy made for me when I went fishing was covered with sea urchins. Some of the things I left behind were still there. I was amazed of how the island actually looked.

Epilogue Continued I couldn’t believe I was visiting the Cay again. I am really excited. Then I started thinking that I might not want to see it again. I thought I might remember some bad and sad memories. The when I arrived I wasn’t sad but I was excited. The island was beautiful. I am glade that I was able to see the island again. When I reached Timothy’s grave I began to cry. Other then that I was happy and excited. Timothy and the Cay changed my life. Before I ever went on the Cay I was a prejudicial brat. Timothy and the Cay really made me grow up. I also learned that it doesn’t matter if your black or white. I also learned some- self confidence and to mature. This changed my life because now I like to talk to black people and talked to older people. All I have to say is thank you Timothy.
