Our school is a state greek school. The greek “Gymnasium” is the first step of greek secondary education (the second is called “Lyceum”). It includes three “classes” and the pupils are from 12 to 15 years old. It was established in In the first place, it was housed in an old building, but thirteen years later, in 1992, was housed in a brand new building (36, Ammohostou st). In 1999 we obtained a modern library, financed by a european project (75%) and greek state (25%). Our school has about 240 pupils. We have around 25 teachers. The director of our school is Mr. Petros Kallergis, a teacher of Psysics, and the assistant manager is Mr. Stavros Katsiros, a teacher of Physical Education.
Pupils have to study English as a first foreign language and, as a second one, they can select between French and German. We celebrate two national celebrations: the October 28th (the participation of Greece in the World War II) and the March 25th (the Greek revolution against Ottoman empire at 1821); we also celebrate, as a school celebration, the November 17th (the “Polytechnic uprising” against Dictatorship in 1973). We have two 15-days vacations: on Christmas and Easter. Our subjects are: Religion, Modern Greek Language and Literature, Ancient Greek Language and Literature, History, Social Education, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Biology, Art, Music, Gymnastics, Computer science, Technology, Social Behavior English, French and German.
