Lee Greenwood Someone once said “I’m not easily defeated.” Lee Greenwood is an American country music artist and still lives on today to inspire humanity. Greenwood was born on October 27, 1942 on a farm near Sacramento, California. When he was fourteen years of age he could play the saxophone by himself and many other instruments which showed his various talents as a young star. Lee learned on how to become a showman when Del Reeves hired him to play the saxophone. Living in Las Vegas trained him to become a song writer by singing in the lounges at night. Greenwood finally became big time when McFadden happened to be his manager and conveyed him to the MCA Records. One of his first hit songs "It Turns Me Inside Out," ascended into the country Top 20. Lee Greenwood met a young woman from Nashville and married her in Greenwood was in high demand for performing after the terrorist attack on September 11 to sing his most famous song “God Bless the USA.” Greenwood still continues to tour and give concerts today because he is an American dream to us all.

“I’d thank my lucky stars” What do the stars on the American Flag symbolize? The American Flag is used as a symbol for the United States. Some people just take the American Flag as the thirteen stripes that represent the thirteen colonies. They could also think that its fifty stars symbolize the fifty current states. This flag is more than stripes and stars. The flag signifies democracy and freedom. The stars on the American Flag stand for heaven. This is when America was being assembled and people started to become hopeful of the future.American Flag

“’Cause the flag still stands for freedom” What does the flag stand for? The American flag is the national flag of the United States of America. To America the American Flag stands for courage, companionship, safety and protection. It expresses the love that we have for this country. Even the colors on the flag stand for something. White symbolizes for clarity and innocence. Red stands for toughness and courage. Blue stands for care, determination and righteousness.

“And I’m proud to be an American” What does it mean to be an American? After September eleventh, to be an American meant Patriotism, Nationalism, and American Identity. To be an American means freedom. As a citizen of the United States, the capability to convey your own ideas is one of the most supreme freedoms we have. But, to me it indicates to be proud that I live in the United States of America.

“Where at least I know I’m free” What does it mean to be free? A free America makes it possible for all Americans to express their Pursuit of Happiness. To me, freedom is defined as strength. All of the citizens in the United States of America are the source of our nation’s importance.Pursuit of Happiness

“And I won’t forget the men who died” What men died for our country? What men died for our country? The founding fathers of our nation were recognized with establishing our country. They spent most of their lives defending our rights and died with winning American Independence. Their presence was a symbol of authority and they are now considered very important figures of our past. founding fathers

“Who gave that right to me” What rights to American citizens have? The rights that we have given to us by our ancestors are very apparent. The rights we have as Americans are for everyone regardless of race, religion, sex. In the United States Constitution Amendment fourteen was ratified in 1868 and shows the citizens rights. It basically defines citizenship and equal protection among Americans.rights

“And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today.” Personification Personification is giving human qualities to animals or objects. Imagine a world without a sturdy America? The plan to defend America doesn’t have to be like rocket science. All we have to do is believe in the government and ourselves, and then the world will seem to fall into place. We want to see America continue to be a spotless country for our citizens and the world community. We as Americans of the United States will “defend her still today.”

“If tomorrow all the things were gone” Foreshadowing Foreshadowing is indicated by signs that hint what might come in the future. My interpretation of this is the terrorist attacks on 9/11. At first, September 11, 2001, was a warm and sunny morning with blue skies. It started out just like any other day, and then the tragedy happened. At 9:00 in the morning two airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. Foreshadowing is being used because in the quote it refers to something in the future that was completely gone. To most people, New York City is missing something with the World Trade Center missing.September 11, 2001

“I’d worked for all my life” Hyperbole Hyperbole is a figure of speech with exaggeration. Some people work so hard to be somewhat of a high status in their life time, but sometimes things can go wrong. This indicates the recession that the world has been going through for the past couple of years. The effects of the recession are still reverberating throughout America. Many Americans have lost their jobs due to this even if they have worked so diligently throughout their lives.recession Four Historic Bad Bear Markets

“Well there’s pride in every American heart” Imagery Imagery is the formation of mental images. We should all be proud to be Americans because of all the privileges we have. We have the right to choose any religion. Voting is a right of everyone. We also have the most liberties and rights of any nation in the world.

“From sea to shining sea” Alliteration Alliteration is the repetition of several words in a sequence. This stands for going from one coast to another. We have power from the seas to the ends of the earth as Americans.
