Presentation transcript:

Ignore errors in this “Server” window Is there a popup window about a memory error? If so, restart monitoring Can you see in this window the program running through a monitoring cycle every 3+10 sec? If not, stop and restart monitoring Does this window say CAEN communication stuck… ? Is the CPR HV on (if it should be) ? If no, hit ON Contact Mary for help with monitor Contact CLC pager or CPR HV pager for real HV problems 1

Symptom: CLC+CPR Heartbeat alarm, monitor crashed (maybe memory error), no error message in Client window Kill Client with ctrl-c in Client window if necessary Double-click on shortcut for HV client (HV_CPR) Click “OK” on pop-up about configuration loading Start the monitoring by opening “HV Monitoring” menu and clicking “Start” Messages in the Client window should cycle every 3+10 sec Check that HV is in proper state TURN CPR ON if necessary 2

Symptom: CLC+CPR Heartbeat alarm and message in Client window “CAEN communication stuck -- halting monitor …” If there is a message in the Client window “CAEN communication stuck -- halting monitor -- contact Mary for help if required”: Either the CLC or CPR CAEN power supply is hung Go to the 1 st floor counting room Check the display on the CLC CAEN (above the clc1 pc in 1RR06D) and the CPR CAEN (bottom of rack 1RR04C) to see which one is unresponsive. (Try hitting the grey buttons below the display – if you can page through menus, it is responsive and OK.) 3

If you find a CAEN is unresponsive: Exit the monitoring on the pc by opening “HV Monitoring” menu and clicking “Stop” Then click “Exit!” Or the monitoring can be killed with Ctrl-c in the Client window (cont. recovery from CAEN communication stuck - 2) 4 4

(cont. recovery from CAEN communication stuck - 3) 5 Unplug the communication cable going into the unresponsive CAEN labeled HIGH SPEED CAENET IN The next step will turn HV off! Make sure the run is halted. If the CAEN is the one for the CLC, the luminosity reading will be 0 until the HV is back on – it is a good idea to notify MCR and also to set COT and silicon HV to standby since they will trip otherwise when lum=0. Reset the unresponsive CAEN by hitting the reset button with a pen (on the right of the CAEN under SYSTEM CONTROL). (Or the CAEN can be powercycled by turning the key to off, waiting a few seconds, and then turning it back to local on.) After the CAEN processor is booted (you should see CAEN SY527 in the display window), reconnect the communication cable HIGH SPEED CAENET IN (If the CAEN is still unresponsive after a few minutes, start a new run with inhibit masked and contact CPR HV pager or CLC pager as appropriate, also Mary Convery can help, also Dervin Allen or Roberto Davila during dayshift. Note if the Check Passed light is not on.) reset HIGH SPEED CAENET IN

(cont. recovery from CAEN communication stuck - 4) After the CAEN is recovered: If HVServer is not running, double-click on shortcut to start HVServer Double-click on shortcut for HV client (HV_CPR) Click “OK” on pop-up about configuration loading Start the monitoring by opening “HV Monitoring” menu and clicking “Start” Messages in the Client window should cycle every 3+10 sec TURN HV ON if it should be on either from clc1 pc or HV Summary page 6

Symptom: CPR trigger inhibit, no red alarm box for CPR on Global Alarms page Turn CPR on (from clc1 pc or HV Summary page) 7 Symptom: CPR trigger inhibit and red alarm box for CPR on Global Alarms page Try hitting ON for CPR (from clc1 pc or HV Summary page) If alarm persists, note which bars are not 100% Start a new run with inhibit masked and contact CPR HV pager

Symptom: CLC trigger inhibit, no red alarm box for CLC on Global Alarms page Turn CLC on (from clc1 pc or HV Summary page) 8 Symptom: CLC trigger inhibit and red alarm box for CLC on Global Alarms page Try hitting ON for CLC (from clc1 pc or HV Summary page) If alarm persists, note which bars are not 100% Start a new run with inhibit masked and contact CLC pager

Symptom: Monitoring not working for unknown reason – 1) stop monitor If monitoring is still running, end it by opening “HV Monitoring” menu and clicking “Stop” Then click “Exit!” Or the monitoring can be killed with Ctrl-c in the Client window Kill Server with Ctrl-c 9

(continued) – 2) restart monitor Double-click on shortcut to start HVServer Double-click on shortcut for HV client (HV_CPR) Click “OK” on pop-up about configuration loading Start the monitoring by opening “HV Monitoring” menu and clicking “Start” Messages in the Client window should cycle every 3+10 sec Check that HV is in proper state TURN CPR ON if necessary 10

(continued) – 3) if problems continue Contact Mary (630) , x4390 – Backup CLC pager, CPR HV pager Can try rebooting clc1 pc on 1 st floor (have to push power button on pc and hold for several seconds) then restart HVServer and client (HV_ CPR) as on previous page 11
