“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body” I. WHAT BAPTISM IS FOR ALL?

THE BAPTISM OF THE GREAT COMMISION IS FOR “ALL” Matt. 28:19, Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Mk. 16:15, And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned.

Matt. 28:19, “…Baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Mk. 16:16, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved...” Acts 2:38, “Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins” WHAT WAS THE BAPTISM OF THE GREAT COMMISSION?

Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Water baptism is baptism in the name of Jesus Christ! Water baptism is for all.

THERE ARE TWO OCCURRENCES OF HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM IN THE NEW TESTAMENT Acts 2:1, And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM WAS NOT FOR “ALL” Acts 8:14, Now when the apostles that were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit: 16 for as yet it was fallen upon none of them: only they had been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 Now when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money.

HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM WAS NOT FOR “ALL” 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

And they said unto him, Nay, we did not so much as hear whether the Holy Spirit was given. 3 And he said, Into what then were ye baptized? And they said, Into John's baptism. 4 And Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on him that should come after him, that is, on Jesus. 5 And when they heard this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. WAS HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM FOR “ALL”?

MEANING OF “BY ONE SPIRIT” 1 Cor. 12:3, Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. “under the influence of the Spirit” 13, For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body…

Compare John 4:1, When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples) Not baptized by Jesus but under His influence

Under what influence of the Spirit?  Jno. 16:13, Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.  2 Tim. 3:16, All scripture is given by inspiration of God...  Eph. 6:17, And take... the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

The Spirit-inspired word was preached at Corinth Acts 18:11, And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. 1 Cor. 15:1, Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. Mk. 16:15

What in the Spirit-inspired word would lead one to be baptized? Mk. 16:16, He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Acts 2:38, Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

THE CORINTHIANS WERE ALL BAPTIZED IN ORDER TO BE SAVED They had been baptized in the name of Christ. 1 Cor. 1:13, Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

THE CORINTHIANS WERE ALL BAPTIZED IN ORDER TO BE SAVED Baptism in the name of Christ is water baptism. Acts 10:47, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

THE CORINTHIANS WERE ALL BAPTIZED IN ORDER TO BE SAVED Baptism in the name of Christ is for the remission of sins. Acts 2:38, Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

THE CORINTHIANS WERE ALL BAPTIZED IN ORDER TO BE SAVED Water baptism and the Holy Spirit joined together in verses speaking about salvation: Jno. 3:5, Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God! Ti. 3:5, Not by works done in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
