Seal School No, not Navy seals! And no, not marine life.

200 Series Centrifugal JM MOTOR SEAL BACKPLATE CASING ADAPTER IMPELLER CLAMP

200 Series Tear Down Lock out power. Disconnect suction and discharge piping Loosen clamp

200 Series Tear Down Remove Clamp

200 Series Tear Down Remove pump casing, may require light tapping with soft mallet.

200 Series Tear Down With casing removed, unscrew impeller nut by turning counter clock wise.

200 Series Tear Down Use a 9/16” wrench to remove impeller nut.

200 Series Tear Down With impeller nut removed, the impeller, back plate and seal assembly can be removed by pulling toward you. (Pumps built after July of 2004 are fitted with an impeller nut versus bolt)

200 Series Tear Down Complete removal by pulling assembly off of the motor, or bearing frame shaft. Make sure to check shims located on motor shaft. It is not necessary to replace shims unless they have been damaged.

200 Series Tear Down Place assembly impeller down on soft or non metallic surface.

200 Series Tear Down Using a 1/8” allen wrench loosen both set screws in the spring retainer.

200 Series Tear Down Slide spring retainer off of the impeller shaft, using care not to lose the three springs.

Remove rotary seal and o-ring. 200 Series Tear Down Remove rotary seal and o-ring.

200 Series Tear Down Loosen seal retainer ring using a 7/16” wrench by turning the four bolts counter clockwise.

200 Series Tear Down With the four bolts removed, remove seal retainer.

Remove back plate and stationary seal at the same time. 200 Series Tear Down Remove back plate and stationary seal at the same time.

Remove stationary seal and L-gasket. 200 Series Tear Down Remove stationary seal and L-gasket.

Remove stationary seal from L gasket. 200 Series Tear Down Remove stationary seal from L gasket.

200 Series Tear Down Naked back-plate.

200 Series Assembly Place back plate over impeller, using care not to drop the plate onto the impeller.

200 Series Assembly Install new L gasket and stationary seal. Note stationary seal can be used on both sides.

200 Series Assembly Re-install seal retainer and 4 bolts. Slide rotary seal over impeller shaft.

Install new rotary seal o-ring over impeller shaft. 200 Series Assembly Install new rotary seal o-ring over impeller shaft.

200 Series Assembly Using the spring retainer upside down press rotary seal o-ring into place.

200 Series Assembly Remove spring retainer and install tabbed washer, align tabs with flats on the rotary seal.

200 Series Assembly Install spring retainer with springs pointed down. A light coat of grease or sealant can be used to retain springs into the retainer. Align tabs of washer onto the retainer.

200 Series Assembly Using a 1/8” allen wrench as a spacer, press the sprint retainer down to compress the wrench onto the rotary seal. While keeping pressure on the spring retainer, remove wrench and tighten both set screws.

200 Series Assembly Install splash defector with flat side toward the motor. Install until deflector is over the end of the impeller shaft.

200 Series Assembly Apply a light coat of food grade anti-seize onto motor shaft and install complete assembly onto the motor by aligning key and keyway.

200 Series Assembly Press back plate onto the motor adaptor to ensure clearance of .030” between impeller and back plate is obtained. Use a feeler gauge to check clearances.

200 Series Assembly If clearance between impeller and back plate needs to be adjusted, shims can be added or removed from motor shaft.

200 Series Assembly Re-install impeller nut and o-ring onto shaft stud and tighten with 9/16” wrench turning clockwise.

Install causing over back plate and o-ring. 200 Series Assembly Install causing over back plate and o-ring.
