2 Page 2 CONFIDENTIAL Print Head Assembly Removal  Turn off printer A.C. power  Unplug the printer from the A.C. Power  Open the print head assembly and remove the ribbon

3 Page 3 CONFIDENTIAL Print Head Assembly Removal  Loosen the T-10 retaining screw on the front side of the print head assembly  Remove the print head adjustment phillips screw, washer and spring Adjustment Screw Retaining Screw

4 Page 4 CONFIDENTIAL  Remove the print head assembly shaft  Unplug the print head cable and ground  Remove the print head assembly. Print Head Assembly Removal

5 Page 5 CONFIDENTIAL  Insert the new print head assembly  (Use Extreme Caution to Prevent ESD Damage to the Print Head)  Connect the print head cable and ground  Re-insert the print head shaft  Align the shaft to allow the print head adjustment screw, spring and washer to be re-inserted  New print head resister value – Before you print  !R XXXX in the command line of the driver Print Head Assembly Replacement

6 Page 6 CONFIDENTIAL  Turn adjustment screw “A” clockwise until the metal Tab “B” just makes contact with the black plastic support. Print Head Assembly Alignment B A

7 Page 7 CONFIDENTIAL B A  Turn adjustment screw “A” counter-clockwise four and one half turns. The metal Tab “B” will move away from the the black plastic support. Print Head Assembly Alignment

8 Page 8 CONFIDENTIAL Print Head Assembly Replacement C  Tighten the Torx retainer screw  Verify that print head resistance has been changed  Print a color test card “IM”  Check print quality and adjust if needed

9 Page 9 CONFIDENTIAL  Be sure the head settings are at 5 and color settings at 0 AND the print head resistance has been correctly entered before you attempt the following adjustment  1-Remove the ribbon and have a 30mil card in the feeder  2-Re-latch the Print Head assembly  3-Send the MI command  4-Send the MM 150 command  5-Send the !D command  6-Loosen the 2 screws holding the peel bar Print Head Peel Bar Adjustment (continued on next slide)

10 Page 10 CONFIDENTIAL  7-Hold the peel bar so it sits EVENLY across the card  8-Gently tight the 2 screws  9-Send the !M command  10-Send the MO command  11-Put the ribbon back and print a color test card “IM”  12-If OK adjustment is done In not repeat adjustment Peel bar Adjustment (continued)
