High-pressure washer Powered by gasoline

Objectives To train participants : To become familiar with the washer equipment To use, maintain and store the washer properly To ensure that the equipment always works well To know how to use detergent/disinfectant correctly 3

Equipment and Materials PPE (protective equipment) Engine oil Plastic hose (3/4, about 15 meters) Detergent and disinfectant Source of water (tap or basin of water) Water filter if using a basin of water Hose clamp Gasoline Pail for detergent 4

Use and Maintenance Procedures : 1. Before using the machine 2. Installing the high-pressure hose 3. Starting up the machine 4. How to use the nozzle 5. How to stop the machine 6. Maintenance of the machine pump 5

1. Before using the machine a) Check the machine’s oil level  MUST be above “LOW” b) Make sure the gasoline tank is filled 6

2. Installing the high-pressure hose a) Attach the hose and spray gun before turning on the machine b) Connect the hose to the spray gun and the water outlet c) Make sure all connections are tight/strong d) Make sure the hose is unrolled/not twisted 7 Spray gun High-pressure hose (outlet)

e) Check the filter for incoming water and clean it if there is dirt f) Turn on the water for 30 seconds to remove dirt in the hose g) Attach the hose to the water inlet with water inside to help start the flow h) Remove air bubbles in the water hose 8 Water filter Inlet hose High-pressure hose

3. Starting up the machine a)Make sure all water hoses are attached b)Position the switch to OFF – Turn on the CHOKE handle – then pull the starter cord a few times (to start up) c)Next, turn off the CHOKE handle – position the switch to ON 9 Starter cord Switch CHOKE handle

d) Pull the starter cord hard using a long pull. Keep trying until the machine starts up e) When it is on turn the choke handle back to the off position f) Adjust the gasoline with the handle

g) Tighten the pressure setting on the compressor h) Try to spray out water without the nozzle before pumping water and remove air bubbles. 11

4. How to attach the nozzle a) Insert the nozzle into the end of the spray gun b) Push with the palm of the hand to tighten c) To remove the nozzle, pull down the end of the spray gun d) Take care so that the nozzle does not fall 12

Nozzle Types Black = for disinfectant/detergent For light spraying White (40°) Green =spray 25° For powerful spraying Yellow = spray 15° Red = spray 0° 13

5. How To Turn Off The Machine Rinse out the remaining soap in the hose with clean water Turn down the machine’s power to the lowest level Leave the machine on for a few moments on low power Turn the switch to OFF Release pressure that remains after the machine is switched off Lock the spray gun when not in use Turn off the water supply and remove the hose Roll up the hose and clean the machine 14

6. Maintenance of the machine pump Change engine oil regularly or after every 20 hours of use or every 3 months for both engine oil and compressor oil To prevent rust, rub leftover oil on any machine parts that could easily rust. Wash all hoses after use After use the machine should be wiped with a clean wiping cloth 15

How to spray a) Spray water at a distance of cm from the surface. b) Do not spray car tyres from less than 20 cm. c) Use the correct nozzle for the surface to be cleaned 16

Detergent 1. How to make a detergent solution 2. How to use detergent in the machine 3. How to rinse the detergent hose 17

1. How to make a detergent solution The detergent provided (Karcher) does not need to be dissolved 2. Ordinary household liquid detergent may be used (dishwashing soap, floor cleaner etc.) Dose: 1/3 liquid soap mixed with 2/3 water 3. Use a filter on the detergent hose 4. Use 20 liter jerricans of detergent for sufficient use

2. How to use detergent in the machine Attach the black Nozzle. Attach a plastic hose from the detergent jerrican to the the pump Press the spray gun Watch that the machine is sucks in detergent from the jerrican 19

3. How to rinse the detergent hose a) Use the black nozzle b) Move the end of the detergent hose from the jerrican to a plastic bottle (600 ml) filled with clean water c) Press the spray gun until all the water has been sucked out of the bottle d) Remove the plastic hose and store it 20

Things to remember After spraying detergent, rinse with high-pressure spray Spray equipment  DANGEROUS (Always use full PPE when washing) Use of the yellow and red nozzles must be done with care  they can cause damage/injury Always rinse out the detergent after using the machine Always clean the machine after each use Store in a dry and clean place 21
