Creating a Twitter Account Enter full name, and password, choose “Sign up”

Creating a Twitter Account Twitter will confirm that your username is available and that your password is OK. Once you are happy with your username and password choose, “Create my account”

Next Twitter will ask you for your interests as a way to suggest members for you to follow. You may enter interests at this time, or skip ahead and find interests later. The “Next Step: Friends” option will prompt you to search your and LinkedIn accounts to discover which of your contacts are using Twitter. Build Your Twitter Profile

Build Your Profile Scroll over to your username in the top right corner, use the dropdown menu to go to “Settings”. Settings will bring you access to your account, password preferences, mobile options, notification settings, profile and design. Username & dropdown menu Setting options

Build Your Profile Privacy Option First—under the Account tab—review your privacy settings. You may choose to “Protect” your tweets, however if you choose this option your tweets will not be available publicly. Twitter users will have to request to follow you and only the people who you approve will be able to see your tweets. Save your preferences. Save

Build Your Profile Next, set up your Twitter profile. Choose the “Profile” tab, upload a photo, enter your name, location, and a short bio (no more than 160 characters). Save your changes.

Find & Follow Twitter Users

Homepage Search The next step is to find and follow people that matter to you. From your Twitter homepage search for people or topics that are of interest to you in the search bar. For example you can search for NavigantInsight.

For example, if you search for NavigantInsight a results screen will appear. If you choose the “People” tab on the right hand side of the results screen, NavigantInsight will appear. After clicking on “view all” next to Navigant Insight the following screen will appear. You can click the gray box with the “+Follow” text to begin following NavigantInsight. Find & Follow Twitter Users Once you begin following people you can monitor their tweets from your homepage. Tweets from those you follow will show up in a stream called a timeline. Once you've followed several people, you'll have a new page of information to read each time you log in. Homepage Timeline

Now you’re ready to tweet. People you know and people that are interested in what you have to say will follow you and they’ll see all the tweets you share with them. Remember, each tweet is limited to 140 characters in length. You may also begin adding your own updates. For example, your first tweet could be and stay up-to- date with the latest insights and news from #Navigant Once you begin writing your own updates, mentioning others by using their Twitter username will help draw more eyes to your message and can start new conversations. Tweet Another simple way to get started is to "retweet" messages of those you follow or reply to their tweets with your reaction. Pushing the retweet button will resend the tweet to all of the people that are following you. Retweet button
