Transportation Tuesday TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY Why is it important to maintain your vehicle? Have you noticed that when most people want to buy a personal vehicle, they are always looking for one that is affordable, easy to maintain and has resale value. They are also very excited about buying a new vehicle and for few months, take very good care of their vehicle. But what happens over time? They lose interest. They are not excited as before and they don’t service or maintain their vehicle on a regular basis.

Transportation Tuesday A well maintained vehicle implies long life, reliability, improved performance and of course a better resale value. One should not forget that their vehicle is like any other expensive machinery that needs to be serviced regularly to perform and avoid a break down. Most of us avoid maintaining our vehicles until some part of it breaks down, and then we wonder what went wrong. Looking after your vehicle involves more than just ensuring that it’s clean and shiny….. Take good care of your vehicle

Transportation Tuesday An insight based on statistics Here is a pie chart that reflects the results of a survey conducted by Automotive Service Excellence, a repair company based in United States. This survey gives you an idea on the common components of a vehicle that are usually neglected by drivers. You need to ask yourself if you neglect these vehicle components as well.

Transportation Tuesday Basic maintenance tips Get your vehicle serviced at regular intervals. Check your vehicle manual which is the best information source to provide you with the routine maintenance your vehicle requires. To prevent your engine from deterioration, it is important to make sure that the engine receives the amount of oil it is programmed to receive. Remember, the oil increases the efficiency of your engine. Check your radiator and coolant level. The coolant moderates your vehicle’s temperature. Check your battery so that you avoid the dreadful experience of trying to start your vehicle and have nothing happen. Keep a watchful eye on your brakes and make sure it works. Check all your vehicle lights-headlights, indicators and hazard signal. Make sure your wiper blades and wiper fluids are ready for a rainy day. Your tires should be properly inflated. If the tread depth decreases, it’s a warning sign to change the tires.
