Gauges — fuel, battery, oil pressure, temperature
Before LONG TRIPS, check:
Tires — treads and sidewalls
Fluid levels — oil, brake fluid, power-steering fluid, washer fluid
Battery, battery posts, battery water level (if not maintenance free)
Windshield wipers
Air filter
Spare tire — inflated and usable
