Fractions An Interactive Activity introducing halves

We are going to slice this pizza into equal sized pieces. These pieces are called fractions.

First we will slice it into 2 equal sized pieces. Click on the cutter to slice the pizza. Each piece is called a half.

We can do this with other shapes and objects too.

We can do this with numbers as well 1 2 of2= =2

1 2 2=1 is the same as… Cutting these numbers in half is the same as dividing them by 2. 2:-2=1 These give us the same answer.
