24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 2 Outline 1.Measurement of main characteristics of ASIC’s PreAmp versus temperature. 1.Measurement of characteristics DAC

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 3 Experimental setup for measurement for ASIC linearity i

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 4 Calibration mode [DAC=OFF, G=0,1pF, T=min, R(10k)=OFF; C(inj)=68pF] Measurement of linearity

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 5 Calibration mode

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 6 Calibration mode  Noise is independent on temperature   G/  T = -0,27%/ o C  With increasing of T the input and output range is increased too  Peak position does not depend on T  Pedestal depend on T ~ 2,5mV/ o C  observed sharp shift of pedestal with sharp change of T  When door of thermostat was closed and thermostat was turn off, temperature around ASIC was higher then outside of thermostat on o C  Reference component depends on temperature. It has small heat capacity

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 7 Physics mode [DAC=OFF, G=0,5pF, T=max, R(10k)=ON; C(inj)=68pF] Measurement of linearity

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 8 Physics mode

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 9 Physics mode  Noise is independent on temperature   G/  T = -0,11%/ o C  With increasing of T the input and output range is decrease  Peak position does not depend on T up to 50  C  Pedestal depend on T ~ 1,5mV/ o C  Using calibration input of ASIC does not give correct results for dependency gain from temperature.

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 10 Experimental setup for measurement of DAC Setting of ASIC: DAC=ON Calibration mode: G=0,1pF T=min R(10k)=OFF

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 11 Measurements of DAC  With increasing of DAC’s setting noise sharp increases after the 200 code  It was observed effect – jump setting voltage for some setting of DAC. Jump of voltage was approximately 40 mV (2 bits)  Gain is independent on DAC’ setting practically  T=25 o C

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 12 Dependencyof DAC voltage and noise from temperature  Setting voltage depends on temperature  V/  T~3mV/ o C  Noise depends on temperature ~ +2%  In thermostat noise was smaller then outside  It is necessary: to protect HAB from pickup noise; to use correct schematic solutions for reject pickup noise

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 13 Regime auto generation of DAC  DAC’s auto generation effect was observed.  This effect appeared when DAC=ON only.  This effect may be associated with evaluation board?  But …

24/03/2005Alexander Karakash & Natalia Kondrat'eva MEPhI for DESY 14 Summary & Questions & Remarks ASIC’s PreAmp & ASIC’s DAC have good thermal stability in both mode. But it is still necessary to stabilize temperature around HAB DAC’s max working range is limited by its noise.  It is necessary: – to protect HAB from pickup noise; – to use correct schematic solutions to reject pickup noise. The next version of ASIC must have auto generation suppression.
