Lovejoy High School Mission To provide a mastery learning experience that allows each student to realize their individual talents.

Campus Goals Ensure academic success for each student - with an emphasis on math and science programs; Use technology resources to enhance teaching and learning; Provide an experience for students consistent with the Graduate Profile; Communicate through various media.

A High School Student’s Day Arrival: Students are dropped off by parents behind the school. The bus drop-off is in the front of the school (Specific bus information will be sent to parents in Aug). 7:30—8:50---students enter the building (they are not restricted to any parts of the building); 8:50—8:55---Students will be released to class 8:55---Class begins Lunch: Students eat lunch during 4 th period (three lunches) Students have 5 minutes to get from one class to the next – tardies are not allowed

School ends at 4:10 Students should be out of the building by 4:25 unless with a teacher or adult sponsor. Dismissal : Student pick-up by parent is behind the school. Buses in front of the school. Late pick-up can be in front or back.

Absences and Attendance or call attendance office (Judy Hise if student is Bring in a parent and/or doctor’s note when students return from absence. If a student is more than 10 minutes late, he or she will need to check into the lobby kiosk before proceeding to class. If parents need to withdraw a student during the school year, they should contact the counseling office in advance.

Academic Support Tutoring: teachers will have scheduled days for tutoring before and after school. –Departments offer tutoring before and after school most days. Students may be assigned to tutoring. Students will be asked to attend tutorials if they fail an assignment or test or if they lack understanding of a concept. We want to foster open communication about your child's understanding and progress.

Late-work and Home Practice Late-work is defined as assignments not complete or not turned in on a specific due date. Missed home practice can be a behavioral issue, not a cognitive issue. Students are expected to partner in their own learning. When students are absent they will be given an opportunity to make up missed learning.

Student Conduct Tardies are not allowed –(Every 4 th tardy has a consequence) Common classroom expectations are taught and reinforced in every teacher’s room. Student behavior that is disruptive will be managed by the teacher first, then the administration. Teachers and administrators will communicate with parents to implement a successful behavior plan for each student.
