Frog Dissection Body Systems All Together

Maryland Science Content Standard Students will be able to explain the role of cells, tissues and organs that effectively carry out a vital function for the organism: –Obtaining food and providing energy –Defense –Reproduction –Waste Removal –Breathing

Objective Today you will observe levels of organization (tissues  organs  organ systems  organism) in order to make connections between the function of body systems and how those connections relate to cellular respiration.

Notebook Title:Frog Dissection Date:4/18/2015

What Will We Do??? We will be using a website to guide us through the process of frog dissection. Stay with the teacher. Do not go ahead of the class. Day One: Dissection Day Two:Discussion

Day 1: Dissection Click here when toldClick here Click on “Begin Dissection” We will read and listen to the instructions together as a class. We will explore the “Guess What” icons together

Day 2: Pulling it All Together After seeing the levels of organization, what systems were you able to identify the organs in? Diagram and explain the function of each system you could identify. How do you think the levels of organization in the frog compare to the levels of organization in a human? Why do we dissect frogs? What is the purpose?
