S TRATEGIC P LANNING A Process For October 30, 2012

I DENTIFY S TRATEGIES The Goal is to develop strategies that will permeate what will be done as an organization.  The need to reflect the realities of the external environment  The need to reflect Mission and Vision for our agencies  The need to reflect our values as an organization

I DENTIFY V ALUES 1. Create a healthier community “Provide the right service to the right person at the right time.” “Provide the right resources to the right staff person at the right time.” 2. We have a social and moral responsibility to the community in which we live. We have a responsibility to impact the health of the community and empower its members. 3. Are there other values?

VISION The convergence of these forces and opportunities leads to the ultimate vision of Building a Healthy Community As a community focused entity we will:  Emphasize prevention, outreach and aftercare  Create a stronger program of services for children and adults by blending and linking the suite of services that both agencies provide  Provide easy access to services from birth to death (“provide the right service to the right person at the right time”)  Engage the community to: Provide input to current services Participate in designing new services Become more informed consumers of the services I DENTIFY V ISION

Achieving a long-term vision requires several factors to be in place.  Combined program of services that meet current and emerging community needs, from birth to death  Focus on getting ahead of the curve; becoming more entrepreneurial & being more creative in solving problems  Ongoing partnership with the community stakeholders, power brokers, opinion makers & philanthropic community  License to take risks in order to find a better solution; learn from failures  Cost-effective infrastructure (Shared Services) VISION without ACTION is a daydream. ACTION without VISION is a nightmare.
