Histogram Basics A histogram is a special type of bar graph that measures the frequency of data Horizontal axis: represents values in the data set; you must count by the same value to get to the next interval; this is the x-axis Vertical axis: measures the frequency of the data (or how often it occurs); When drawing a histogram by hand, the y-axis should start at zero.
