2. A coordinate plane is formed when two number lines intersect. The coordinate plane is used to locate points. The two number lines meet at a right angle at their zero point. What is the Coordinate Plane? 4. An ordered pair of numbers is used to collate any point on a coordinate plane. (4,5) The first number is call the x-coordinate; it means to move to the right or left of the horizontal number line. The second number is call the y-coordinate; it means to move up or down along the vertical number line. Ordered Pair

5.  Example: point A  Step 1: Start at the origin.  Step 2: Move right on the x- axis to find the x-coordinate of the point, which is 2  Step 3: Move up the y-axis to find the y-coordinate, which is 7.
